Aurora Gaming had only lost twice the entire season, so many of us expected a long, grinding best-of-seven. Instead, Team Liquid Philippines gave us a sweep. TLPH won 4-0, grabbed the largest share of the prize pool, and lifted the MPL Immortal Cup in front of the league's largest live audience yet. It felt less like a Grand Finals and more like a coronation.

The series had all the tension of a finals but with one team completely in command. I kept waiting for Aurora Gaming to flip the script. They had the talent and the season-long record to do it. But every time a fight broke out, TLPH answered with cleaner engages and better map pressure. Their rotations felt sharp, their objective setups were disciplined, and their team fighting was overwhelming. By the third game, the arena had turned into a sea of TLPH flags and chants.

The five-day Playoffs turned Cuneta Astrodome into a complete fan festival. Every day opened with the Community Parade, where supporters marched through the streets, waved team banners, and cheered for their favorite squads. Inside the MPL Festival Superfan City, I explored interactive sponsor booths, checked out exclusive team merchandise, and joined the free watch party that extended the energy beyond the main stage.

Music also made the weekend special. Sony Music Philippines artists Barq, UNXPCTD, Nobita, and Ace Banzuelo performed on stage and turned the playoffs into a fusion of esports, music, and fandom. I remember the crowd singing along between matches, and the energy never dipped. It felt like a cultural gathering more than a traditional tournament.

The official partners added another layer to the event. Infinix powered the competition as the official tournament phone and brought the Fansiklaban Grand Finals to the festival area. Smart kept fans engaged with MLBB activities and connectivity. BPI used its booth to teach fans about saving through interactive games. Knorr and Clear added giveaways and fun segments that brought more people into the celebration.

The National Journey Continues

The Grand Finals opening ceremony also marked the launch of the Philippines' campaign for the Southeast Asian Games 2025. Representatives from the Games and Amusements Board and the Philippine Esports Organization were present to support the athletes. It was a meaningful reminder that MPL PH is connected to a bigger national esports pipeline.

Marlon Marcelo, Executive Director of the Philippine Esports Organization, called MPL Philippines a cornerstone of the esports ecosystem. He said it is the perfect platform for discovering and developing Filipino talent. That is something I saw with my own eyes. The passion in the building was not manufactured. It came from a community that lives and breathes MLBB.

PESO General Manager Jab Escutin also emphasized how the MOONTON Games ecosystem supports both the national team and the pro scene, opening opportunities through open qualifiers. That commitment helps discover new talent beyond established pros. It is exactly why events like MPL PH matter beyond the trophy.

I also learned that TLPH's roster, along with John Carlo Caloy Roma, would field the SIBOL MLBB Men's team at the 33rd SEA Games. NAVI PH's core five and Clarisse CLA Cordova would represent the SIBOL MLBB Women's team. Bangkok, Thailand would host the event in December. It made the Grand Finals feel like the beginning of a larger journey.

The result sent TLPH and RORA forward as the Philippine representatives to the M7 World Championship in Indonesia in January 2026. The Philippines has won the M-series championship five consecutive years, so the pressure will be enormous. But after watching TLPH dominate on that stage, I believe the country has another deep and dangerous roster ready for the world.
